The $2 billion figure has circulated since the aftermath of the 2022 breach and is repeatedly attributed to leaked messages, the hacker, lifetime support, development plus marketing, or internal systems. The attribution changes between retellings, and no Rockstar or Take-Two publication located for this dossier states a $2 billion GTA VI budget. Later financial reconstructions may make a very large spend plausible, but they are estimates, not confirmation of the viral number.
